The Complete Guide to Taiwan Offshore Pigeon Racing: From Selection to Victory

For many Taiwanese pigeon fanciers, offshore racing is the ultimate challenge. Unlike continental European land races, Taiwan's unique system is considered one of the toughest in the world.

Step 2: Phase Training Method – Complete Preparation for the Sea

    1. Loft Familiarization and Around-the-Loft Flying: Starts around 25-30 days old.
    2. Short-Distance Training (5-50 km): Starts around 2-3 months old.
    3. Medium/Long Distance and Coastal Training (50-100 km): Once young birds return consistently, begin coastal fixed-point training. Release pigeons from the coastline to teach them "water recognition." Also start simulated race basket training to acclimate them to transport stress.
    4. Simulated Sea Training and Distance Jumps: Before official races, organize short sea training. "Jump training" (e.g., directly from 100 km to 150 km) can test stamina.
